A needy man and his golden goose


Long ago there lived a needy man in a village. The man had a goose. It was not a usual one for it laid one golden egg every morning. Each egg brought the man quit a fair of amount of money and he soon become rich. But his wife was not satisfied with this. The lady was too much greedy. She thought “The goose has quit a number of golden eggs in its womb. Why should we not receive all eggs at a time?” So she asked the man to do so. But the man didn’t agree with her. One day when the man was out of his house. His greedy wife brought a sharp knife, took hard of the goose and cut its belly. The goose died at once. But alas! To her utter disappointment she found no eggs. She lost the goose and became poorer then before. 

 Moral: Grapes all,lose all.

Two Friends and a Bear


There were two very intimate friends. Once they were passing through a forest. The forest was full of ferocious animals and the two friends were very much afraid. But they promised to stand by each other in danger. Suddenly they saw a bear coming towards them. One of them knew hoe to climb a tree. He at once climbed up a tree and hid himself. The other man finding no other alternative fell flat on the ground and held his breath pretending to be dead. The bear came up to him and smelt his nose, ear and face took him to be a dead man and left the place. Because the bear does not eat the meat of a dead animal. When the bear was gone, the man in the tree came down and said, “thank God that you are saved. But friend, I saw the bear put its mouth very close to your ear. Did it say anything to you?”.
 The friend replied. “Yes. The bear tell me not to trust a friend who left me in my danger to seek his own safety”. Then the friend realized his fault and apologized to him for his selfishness.

Moral: A friend in need is a friend indeed.

The Boys and the Frogs


There lived some frogs in a pond. Some boys were playing around the pond and said to each other. Let us throw stones at them. So they began to throw stones at the frogs. Soon they killed some frogs and some were injured. All the frogs were in danger. There was an old frog. It planned wise plan. It puts its head out of the water and said, “Boys, why are you throwing stones at us?” The boys replied. We are making fun only. At this the old frog said, what is fun to you is death to us. The boys stop their funny games. They were ashamed of this. Oh boys please, stop the cruel game.
Do not throw stones at us. Being repentant the boys stop throwing stones.

Moral: What is fun to one is death to another.
